Women in Sound Season 2, Episode 10 featuring Leslie Ann Jones 〰️

Leslie Ann Jones is a trailblazing, multi-Grammy award winning recording engineer with a career spanning nearly fifty years.

After getting her start at ABC Recording Studios in Los Angeles, where she was the first woman hired as an assistant engineer in 1975, she spent the next two decades in a variety of production roles at renowned institutions like The Automatt, home to one of the earliest digital recording systems, and Capitol Studios.

In 1997, she joined Skywalker Sound as the Director of Music Recording and Scoring. Her film score credits include Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now, Darren Aronofsky’s Requiem for a Dream, and George Clooney’s Good Night and Good Luck

Leslie’s expansive discography includes legendary artists like Carlos Santana, Herbie Hancock, Bonnie Raitt, Joan Baez, and The Kronos Quartet, among many others.

For the finale of season 2, host Madeleine Campbell sat down with Leslie to discuss her storied history, selected tracks from her discography, and recording film and video game scores.

Each episode of Women in Sound focuses on one engineer, producer or artist through an interview + deep dive discussion surrounding a guest DJ set of tracks from their discography. Together we’ll explore the ins and outs of various roles that join forces to create amazing records and get a behind-the-scenes look into how some of our favorite tracks were made — directly from the people who produced them.
